Gym with ostomy

Been looking online but struggling to find information on returning to the gym. I'm 8 weeks out now and have been given the all clear to return training, I'm currently using a hi line active support belt to prevent a hernia.

Do many people on here lift weights on a regular basis?

Also what are people's opinions on squating again? Not something I'm going to rush back into but just curious if any ostomates carry on with a normal gym routine after recovered from surgery

I would do whatever you feel comfortable doing. I'm only 5 weeks post op and don't feel like I'm even close to hitting the gym again! So good for you if your feeling that good by week 8!
I would start out slow, like less than half of anything you were used to lifting. I talked with my GI doc about returning to an active lifestyle including exercising and he said they're really aren't any limitations once your healed. Just be cautious that u already kind of have a hernia. That's why I'd take it slow. Get used to doing the exercises before u go with too much weight.
There are body builders that have ostomies so anything is possible

I started back a little after 6 weeks but didn't have a big surgery just a diversion. But I'm in my 60 and still very fatiqued. I only do about a half hour and then I beat! Probably should be waiting longer but I can't sit around anymore. I on,y do about half my weights. I'm at 9 weeks now and for me it's still hard. The first few times OMG I was so sore.

There are many adjustable Ostomy Belts which prevents leakage during excessive physical exertion. I suggest people with Ostomy should not go to gym but exercise at home only.

RansiPlick, I surely hope that you aren't serious.....stay home??? Are you for real? Why in heavens name would we stay home and not go to a gym, pool, track, restaurant just because we have an ostomy? I stayed home for 21 years because of my Crohn's. I now have a life because of my ostomy.
