Should I already change the bag?

So my Ostomy nurse just changed my bag yesterday before I left the hospital. She told me to change again Monday. But I'm worried I'm on my way to a leak. I don't think I see or smell a leak but yesterday she said if I see a white ring near the stoma it might be the output already breaking down the barrier. One side I do see a white ring. Should I go ahead and change it already? Or wait another day of it isn't actually leaking?

I don't want to change too soon as my skin is sensitive. I feel paranoid!

Are you wearing a transparent pouch and you can see the ring? I think there is always a ring aaround that is whiter, the output eats a way at the adhesive a little. If it is not in the shape of a ring and it goes further out, there is usually a leak. I agree with super, if there is no itch or sting, it's probably not leaking. I have had a few leaks where I didn't feel anything but it's pretty rare. One thing I can tell you, is that you're going to be a little bit paranoid until you have it all figured out. It takes some time. The first time I changed by myself was a huge triumph for me. It was at the time I realized I could do it and even if something went wrong, it was okay. They also sent me home with flat wafers and my short stoma (.5 inch) would ALWAYS leak under. It was tricky to figure out I needed convex. My home nurse gave me one to try and it was obvious when we changed out of the convex that my skin was in much better condition and it stayed on for a full 5 days without problems. After that, I ordered convex. I need them again with this loop. I've been changing my loop often and I don't think it' has harmed my skin but the peristomal skin isn't in the best shape regardless because I've only had this stoma for 2 weeks.

I was a bit fanatical with my ostomy. I only had the temp loop ileo so I had a lot of skin issues. I changed my wafer every other day (and the bag everyday) because stool would end up behind the wafer sometimes. (my stoma was recessed). If it feels uncomfortable, do change it.

Guess it depends on the kind of ostomy you have. I too was under the impression that a longer wear time is better but I have a leaky crosive loop. I've been advised to change day 3 to avoid leaks. Don't want to be out and leak that's for sure, I don't want any more middle of the night eposides either, and letting the stool,sit on your skin can cause breakdown as well. Lucky for the ones that get a longer wear time cause I just hate hate hate changing.

I know that feeling - I changed to a different seal last week, and I was still worried about it for the first couple of days, just because it was a slightly different system than what I was used to.
I do remember though at the start, I was so paranoid about everything, I was checking my bag every few minutes, constantly thinking something was wrong. You do get used to it though, and forget about it, even though it seems like you never will at the moment!

Ha yes the Convatec are huge!!! That is what the hospital sent home with me and they are ridiculous!! It took up almost the whole right side of my abdomen. Probably part of the reason I was uncomfortable. Too bad I have like 15 of those!!!

What is the diameter of the adhesive part of your wafer? I wear a convatec convex two piece. The wafer diameter is 3" not including the tape edge.
