I know there are a few people going through the j pouch procedure right now that have been posting. Today is the five year anniversary of my takedown surgery. Cannot believe it's been that long already.
Life is good. It's not like having the healthy colon I had once upon a time but it's pretty darn close. When I think of all the time I wasted on the meds that didn't work trying to save my colon I still get aggravated but I'm grateful everyday for this procedure and the fact that I have my life back.
Whether it's a permanent ileostomy or a jpouch, the end result is no more UC! Good luck to all with their upcoming surgeries!

Great to hear. Here's to many more years of a happy j-pouch! I'm getting my j-pouch created in december, step 2 of 3, kind of looking forward to it.

Yay! Happy you're still doing so well :)
You have been an inspiration to me too. When I thought surgery was the end of the world, your posts reminded me that it wasn't and that I too could get through this. I am so thankful you were here to help keep me feeling positive. I know you have helped so many other people as well.

Thanks everyone! :)
TotesMagotes,
Is it Dr. Scott Goldstein out of Jefferson that you're having your consult with? Forgive me if it's been discussed, my memory is horrible. I loved him. Great surgeon! And I loved the care I got at Jefferson. Top notch!
Edit: I remember now Totes that you asked me who my surgeon was, duh. I hope you like him! Update us after your consult. :)
