I'm so glad to hear it. Things seem to be adapting really well so far for you. Surgery yesterday went fine - lasted about an hour and a half, spent another hour or so in recovery, then had a relatively uneventful night last night in the hospital. I started walking immediately and ate a pretty decent dinner - chicken/rice soup, mashed potatoes, cooked carrots, apple juice. about two hours after that I had my first "BM" and passed gas on the toilet. This morning I went for a couple of walks, ate a piece of banana bread and a hard boiled egg, passed more gas and had another "BM". My surgeon even discharged me from the hospital a couple of hours ago so I am now home! Kind of crazy I wasn't in my hospital room for more than 24 hours.
What is your stoma site like now? Mine was pulled a little closer together but left open. It's kinda gross and I have to change the bandage every 8 hours or so because it is draining. Hoping it heals up fast.
Totally get what you mean. I am relieved not to deal with the UC and the drugs anymore. From when I was first diagnosed up until about a year ago, I also thought surgery was the enemy, but the last two hospital stays I've had for my jpouch post -ops have been a breeze compared to when I've been hospitalized for severe flares.
