white line on base of stoma?

I have a definitive white line near the base of my stoma. It started as more fuzzy almost like a small piece of cotton on it. Does anyone have an idea of what causes this and if it's serious? Also, I've noticed a slight purplish tint on the other side of my stoma like a very slight bruise, almost unnoticeable. Does anyone know if either of these is serious, and should I get it checked out. I do have a tendency to cut my wafers kinda tight. Could that cause it? THANKS
