Just wondering if seeds, like on bread, the little sesame seeds, can cause problems? I have also wanted so badly to eat salsa, but worried about
the tiny tomato seeds. What can they do to a person with a colostomy?
Also, don't know what ever happened to UCWhat? She was my ostomy mentor and haven't seen her around or heard from her at all in a long time. Just hoping she has moved on with life and is happy!

Sunny, I have a colostomy and I eat salsa as well as fresh tomatoes, corn, and breads with small seeds. In fact, I've never had any trouble with any food. but I should add I don't have any other serious health problems, nor did I have a long history of bowel disease, just a little over a year with diverticulitis.
Are you generally digesting well? If you are doing well with other foods, you might try introducing salsa (yum), and seeded bread one at a time and see how it goes?
How are you doing otherwise? I seem to recall you were having problems with leaks??

I ate those little seeds with no problem with my ileostomy. Try small amounts at first.

Hi Sunny, I am still out here....I'm just the worst emailer/keep-in-toucher that there is...SO sorry! I've started countless emails and thought about
even more, but I failed on the follow through. I hope you are doing well and having a wonderful Christmas time!
As for the seeds, I think you will be fine to eat them. I eat plenty of seedy things and they have caused no problem with my ileostomy, and I'd think it would be even less risky for a colostomy. Enjoy!!
