I have had a permanent ileo for 5 years, and I kept having problems with fungal infections under my wafer. After a TON of research I found out that recurrent yeast infections can be caused by overgrowth of bad bacteria in the gut, and probiotics can help. So I took Bio-K, one of the most potent probiotics there is. It cleared everything up within days. I have used it many times since, and I can say 100% that I am convinced that probiotics are beneficial for people with no colon.
As far as what kind of probiotics you take, it seems that different people are born with different organisms in their gut and through environment, everyone's mix of organisms is different. So everyone needs to find the right brand or mix of probiotics that is right for them. There is still so much we don't know.
