I see that you originally were diagnosed with Crohn's, than switched to UC and then back to Crohn's. Sometimes I wonder if these doctors really know what they are doing. I was diagnosed with UC, only rectal involvement, in 1998. When one of my doctor's associates came into my room, when I was being discharged, asked me.."How long have you had Crohn's?" Now, this guy was the senior GI doctor in that practice!! I had never seen him during the eight day hospitalization. I was shocked!! I said to him, "I have Crohn's? Dr. Siegel diagnosed me with UC!" Upon hearing that, he hurried out of the room and came back about five minutes later with my discharge sheet. Nothing more was ever mentioned about my having Crohn's. I was treated with soooo many meds throughout the twelve years I suffered. The disease never ventured into my colon at all! With every colonoscopy, the reports always read, Moderate Ulcerative Proctitis. No signs of Crohn's. In 2010, I went to a colorectal surgeon because all my GI doctor wanted to do was try every med under the sun and the meds were killing me. I just read my discharge report from my proctocolectomy and that also states...no sign of Crohn's. However, here is my confusion. I am 99.9% certain I have a rectovaginal fistula. I had a skin tag (enormous) removed last November from my anus when my surgeon was doing the anal biopsies. I also have terrible ulcers inside my mouth. Aren't these all indications of Crohn's?
