Hard to believe it's been 6 years since my j pouch surgery. I'm leading a nice, boring life thanks to the procedure. Lol. Hubby, myself and my two sons are going to visit my sister who lives in France next week with a side trip to Italy. I could have NEVER done a trip like this in the UC days. I'm so grateful.
To all going through it or contemplating surgery, it's tough at the time to get through but it's worth it in the end. When you're out of options like I was, it's a blessing in disguise. Obviously not something to take lightly. Good luck to all who may be having surgery in the future.

Congrats ByeBye. You have been so helpful to me. I wish you many more years of uc free happiness and health.
Have so much fun on your trip. I went to Italy (pre uc) on my honeymoon. It was spectacular. Enjoy every minute. Hugs.

Thank you all for the sentiments. :)
I'm very excited about
this trip. Nervous about
the plane ride only because I hate flying.
Looking forward to seeing my sister. (She has a j pouch too. Good ol UC runs in our family.)

Marianne, congrats!!!! Today is six years for me too! Of course I do not have a j-pouch, but living with my permanent ileostomy is heaven compared to the twelve long years I suffered with UP. I really don't think I would still be here to post had I not had the operation. As a matter of fact, I am convinced of it. If the disease didn't bump me off by now, the meds would have done it fer sure!
