So i feel good physically, but I'm going a lot, all day long, all hours of the night throughout my sleep. I know this is expected but I'm pretty much not sleeping due to my need to go to the bathroom all night. I was wondering when sleep will start to get better? One things that is good that I was worried about is that I'm not running to the bathroom not being able to control my urgencies, this allows me to return to normal activities easier.

Also, the ass burning is REAL. I was givin some cream from the Cleveland clinic that they make themselves but my problem is that I have hemorrhoids preventing me from putting the cream where it needs to go. I don't wipe, I dab to prevent less irritation but the actual passing of stool hurts like hell. I'm handling food very well, stool is more formed than I imagined it being. But my two questions were, when will sleep get better? Does it ever? are you able to ever sleep through the night without going? And also when will the ass burning subside? Does your skin get tougher and used to the process of passing stool? Thank you in advance for replies.

You'll probably noticed a improvement in frequency around the 3 or 4 week mark. Once things start to settle more, you'll be able to sleep better. All sounds normal, and you mentioned no urgency which is huge. You're on the right track.

I found the butt burn got better with time. But I still deal with it from time to time. At this point for me it's food related. I like Calmospetine ointment. That does the trick for me every time. Others have loved having a bidet and if you're dealing with hemorrhoids, that may be the way to go. Some nights I still get up to go and I'm 6 years into this. It just depends.....there's no rhyme or reason to it.

have you tried taking some immodium or lomotil before bed to help slow things down a bit, mabye that will give you some more sack time

This may help but be sure to ask your surgeon first if it's ok to take it. My surgeon told me no Imodium for two weeks post op then I could try it if I wanted to. I know they all have different opinions so that could've just been my surgeon's thing.

I am 9 months out now, and still dealing with the butt burn issue. I have found Bert's Bess baby diaper zinc oxcide to be the best. I make sure that after every bowel movement, I use a $12 bidet that I purchased on amazon to remove anything extra as it works great, then I wipe with kleenex not toilet tissue, final step coat area with Bert's bees product.

Know what ya mean about the hemmoroids. For them I use witch hazel applied a few time a day. Good luck as it can be a process, but once you calm things down & stay on top of it - it is managible.

I've had terrible butt burn at times but since my surgeon put me on antibiotics last week as we suspected pouchitis, the burn is virtually gone.
