I am considering an ileostomy...13 years crohn's, colon ca in 96, incontinence, feeling sick 99% of the time, leave of absences from work etc.. you all know the drill. Every now and then I think of a question. So here goes. When you travel via airplane does your bag get all puffy due to the pressure. If so, what do you do? Just burp it in the bathroom? Does this become a problem? Thanks

Hello Artist.
This is a question that I asked a couple of years back. Everyone told me not to worry, that it wouldnt happen. And they were right. I have only flown once but I had no problem at all and I don't think I have met or read about
anyone that has had the problem either. I know of one young man that makes many plane journeys due to his job and he says that he hasnt had a problem with the bag balooning at all.

Some of the new ostomy devices have a built in filter that allows the gas to escape and the charcoal filter prevents odor. The one that I use is made by Hollister and is the New Image Flextend.
