The wife and I are looking at going down south for a few months next winter. Just wondering who swims with ostomy, just wondering how long the ostomies last after some swimming. We will be having a pool in our back yard for them 2 months.

I swim both in a pool and ocean with my ostomy. I havent had any issues.

When we went on vacation to the beach for a week I packed a box of 10 pouches worried I would need to change all the time after being at the beach all day but only had to change once.

It may depend what pouch and barrier you use. I use the Coloplast mio flex and the barrier is waterproof it doesn't have any tape like some so maybe that's why it worked so well.

I use a Sure Seal (www.alpglobal.com) over my wafer and I swim all summer and shower daily. Sure Seals are waterproof and breathable and hold up amazingly well to moisture. My normal change schedule is once a week and I can attribute that to using them.

I also put a small piece over my charcoal filter so it doesn't leak.

You can order samples from their website, too, to see if you like them. Just keep in mind that they take a few tries to get the hang of them!

I second the recommendation of the Sure Seals. They are great in the water!

Equestrian Mom. I just got done ordering some free samples. how often do you change your bag? right now I get 6-7 days out of mine. I shower every other day right now in the winter. summer about 4 days. I use coloplast deep convex with a barrier ring in the inside and the outside. 57 yr old male recently retired. planning on going south for a few months next winter. just getting everything ready. The lord has been good to me. My favorite saying. IT COULD BE WORSE.

I live in Florida and am in the ocean or pool quite frequently. Just enjoy, be yourself and don't overthink this. Do remember though to stay hydrated with your fluid intake . 🌴😎

I use waterproof tape around the edges of the wafer. Works well to keep it from peeling off in the water. Just be sure to wait until it's somewhat dry before peeling off the tape and peel slowly.

I have found that my wear time is not really affected by swimming in the pool. I'm in there every day in the summer and feel confident that I won't have any issues!
