Successful surgery today!

I had the takedown surgery earlier today. Am doing okay but pain is kicking in. Nurse said it’s bc the surgery anesthesia is wearing off. She said it laukdmbe easier for me if I can tell. The difference between gas pain and incision pain. Does it matter? Both are painful.

I actually went to the bathroom to pee and I had a shooting pain for a few min near my pelvic area- I’m female so I figure it’s bc it was so close to the Pouch site? I plan to mention it to my nurse. Worst part is getting out of bed- so awkward!

The doc also said I had a lot of scar tissue round my stoma. My body was trying to heal- if it were a permanent stoma it like have been a good thing but in this case they had to be really careful cutting to close me back up. Haven’t seen my incision yet. She said I’ll prob be out of here in two days at the earliest. Already passed a title bit of stool!

I'm waiting for takedown and I also get some (very minor) pain in my pelvic area sometimes when I'm peeing. I'm male though. I just assumed it was part of the healing process, since it wasn't too long ago I had surgery.

I had awful gas in the beginning and I couldn't pass it because it was unpredictable. I'd have to go to the toilet for it. It was bad if I was in the car and it hit. It gets so much better after a few weeks, and even better after a few months. Take it easy and get some rest. I never named my pouch. I will have to think about it.

That’s a good question - I don’t have any additional laparoscopic sites than the first surgery. I have the closed stoma location and that’s it. Does that mean they went through the rectum?

They gave me gas-x which surprisingly helps.

I’m wondering if I’m past the tough part- no accidents last night and I can hold it for a good while. I think the stomach muscles getting cut are painful too! A little sore to walk and get comfortable sitting.

Wedding was the best day ever! The weather was as good Oregon’s, my fiancé was so handsome, the venue was gorgeous, and we were surrounded by so many friends and family. It seemed like all had a wonderful time as well- we had at a working diary farm and catered it with Mac and cheese and chicken and beef brisket, etc...people said it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. Our DJ was awesome too! Just wonderful.

Just laying low this week and have thank you notes on my to-do list. Thanks for asking!

Still doing pretty well with the recovery. The bidet has really made a difference. No accidents besides the first night now, but I’m keeping in mind that it will prob happen, just so I’m not upset when it eventually does happen. Took the bandage off and it looks pretty intense ! 5 staples which isn’t that bad- just looks a little Frankenstein like. Still going slow with the food too. Neausea is almost completely gone, thankfully, and getting good sleep with naps during the day. Hope this keeps on the same track. Staples come out next week!

Another question - My incision keeps sleeping and oozing at several different staples. Is that normal? I took the bandage off and keep airing it out but it keeps bleeding a little. Should I be worried? I feel like I’m being paranoid, lol but figured I’d ask?

That sounds so painful! Just when you think you’re over the tough part, right?
