There was no other diagnosis for what was wrong with my pouch so the surgeon at the Mayo Clinic diagnosed it as Crohn's. However, they are still doing research to determine if Crohn's was the proper diagnosis. The surgeon said they have only seen two other cases similar to mine. The pouch was removed in March. I now have a permanent stoma. I did well when I had the stoma in 2012 and did well for awhile with the j-pouch, but I am not doing well with the stoma this time. I am having a lot of prostate problems and feel very ill. Two weeks ago I saw Urologist, Gastroenterologist, Colorectal Surgeon, and Psychiatrist. I didn't leave anything to chance so I saw them all. Other than an elevated PSA and atrophy of my prostate and adrenal glands they can find no other cause for the problems I am having. I am hoping things will resolve as my prostate returns to normal. However, if it doesn't, the Urologist as the Mayo Clinic is wanting to do a biopsy of my prostate. I no longer have a rectum so that is the only way they can check my prostate for cancer or other pathogens. I know that is a lot but I have been having a lot of problems.
