Hard Lumps Passing Through Stoma

It has been a while since I have logged into this site, but it so good to be back. I am having a problem with my stoma, and I hope that someone can help me. For the past six months or so, I have been having like there are peanuts that are struggling to pass through my stoma, except I do not eat peanuts. I have been to the hospital twice and each time I have had a C-Scan done and the both of them show nothing. Then a few days later, my stoma grows to look like a mushroom, and with a day it goes back down to its normal size. Like I said this has been going on now for a while and none of the doctors can find out why. Then today I was talking a friend of my husbands and he told me that I have internal shingles. Has anyone ever heard of that happening. I feel like a mess and am in search of some answers and hope that someone can help me.

Hi, You might have your gallbladder checked out. Mine ruptured last year and I had emergency surgery. But before that happened I passed six stones into my pouch. Didn't know what the first one was, but I suspected gallstones. After I googled pictures of gallstones it confirmed thats what they were. Just an idea.

Hi, I supposedly had my gallbladder removed about 6 years ago, so the doctor told me. But what you are saying does make sense. Like I was told from a very smart man, that he thinks I have internal shingles. I sure hope not. I have these pains in ;my stoma for at least two months now and they are not getting any better. I have thought about going on a liquid diet for a couple of days and see what happens then. I am still open to all suggestions. I do not have any problems moving my bowels, so that it a good things, I guess.

Internal shingles shares many symptoms with shingles on the skin, including:

muscle aches
chills
numbness and tingling
itching and burning sensations, especially where the rash appears
pain
swelling of the lymph nodes, a sign that your body’s immune system is fighting the virus

In addition to these, symptoms of internal shingles are based on which body system is most affected. Body systems that can be affected include the eyes, nervous system, lungs, liver, and brain. Internal shingles can cause symptoms such as persistent pain, fever, cough, abdominal pain, and headache. When shingles affects internal organs, it’s a serious complication that requires urgent medical attention.

What MeByTheSea mentioned makes a lot of sense. What do you mean, you "supposedly" had your gall bladder removed? Was it not explained to you definitely? I would certainly get a confirmation on whether or not your gall bladder was removed from the surgeon who, most likely, charged your insurance for removing your gall bladder and go from there.

What ever was bothering my stoma in the way of peanuts trying to pass, has disappeared as fast as it came on. But I am still dealing with the question as what makes my stoma swell up in the shape of a mushroom at least every two to three months. Does anyone have any idea what causes that?? My family says that it could possibility be the start of cancer in my stoma. He also said that there is no way to detect it until it gets further along seems how it has been moved from below and now through my stomach. I asked him to explain and he said for me to look it up, but I have yet to find the correct site.I don't think doctors are as smart as they think they are. The doctor that did remove my gall blatter has retired, but i did check with my insurance and they told me that according to the doctors notes that went with the insurance papers that we submitted to them, did say my gall bladder was removed back in 2002.

If you just had a CAT scan maybe that will show if you have a gaulbladder or not .
