Loop ileo/pouch

Last monday I had my 2nd operation of 3, end goal of having a J-Pouch.

I'm doing well, recovering fine. I was wondering if any of you had any fluid coming out from your backside and if so for how long? It's not leaking or anything just went I go the toilet and urinate that's when a small amount will come out.

I forget to ask my surgeon before beginning discharged as the ward I was in was a nightmare. Was lucky to get any sleep at all during the 5 days I was there due to one patient constantly up day and night, shouting, fidgeting. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Am I right in thinking once everything has had time to heal it will most likely stop/slow down?
Even if it doesn't, id like to know if it's normal or I should be contacting someone

It's completely normal, even though you're not connected, your intestines will still produce mucus. I passed quite a bit when I had my ostomy. I only had the two step but between one and two I passed mucus many times a day

Perfect. Good to know its nothing out of the ordinary.

With the loop, you can't tell, but there are actually 2 openings. One from the small intestine down to the stoma and one going down to the anus. Stuff can go through the bag down into the pouch. You will also have what blksteeda mentioned. At least after step 2, it's just 8 weeks to reconnect. Then you will experience a LOT of trips, but a slowing after time.

Yeah, have a read a lot about the final stage and the joys that come with it. Just got to stick with it, stay positive and eventually be worth it.

I'm super lucky in that one of the stoma nurses I see is a J-Poucher herself
