I am back from surgery. The surgery went well. They removed about
5 1/2 feet of my colon. I was in a lot of pain for the first three days. I started drinking a little fluids around the third day. I developed an illieous, and oh my goodness did I throw up. I never knew you could throw up that much. Then the bad news came on the fourth day that my small intestines had gone to sleep. The doctor said we just have to wait until it decides to wake up and work again. they kept taking x-rays to see if my ileious was working yet. I is just now starting to work again after 9 days post opp. I have litterly thrown up more than I could ever care to throw up. On Saturday last weekend I had two nurses try to put the NG tube in,but no such luck my reflux wouldn't take it. Then on Sunday morning since I was still throwing up, two more nurses tried to with lots of drugs to keep my mind off the refux pt of it. No such luck there either. Finally I was praying for someone to put that darn tube in, just so I wouldn't have to tastes my insides again. That is the worst part so far from the surgery. I have a bag that looks like milk attatched to me to give me the nutients I need to get better. The doctor still won't say when I can go home, all he says is one more day. I still have the NG tube and he said hopefully tomorrow I can have it removed. Then I will have to start drinking and eating. So hopefully by next Tuesday, or before I can go home...
Lesa, hopefully you are home and getting back into a rutine. I am so glad everything went as well for you.
