Hi! I just noticed the 812....is that your birthdate? That is my birthdate!!! LOL! Anyhoo.....wish me luck tomorrow. I have my biopsies. Last Tuesday and Wednesday I had the intestinal virus...vomiting and diarrhea and still don't feel 100%. That virus takes a lot out of us ostomates. I try to hydrate as much as possible. I don't want to postpone these biopsies any longer. I already had to postpone them twice due to other health issues. I did want to ask you what is your age and if you still menstruate? Have you had a recent PAP? I think after tomorrow and if everything is ok inside the anus, that I am calling my gyn and insisting that they do a PAP.

Home now. Dr. McClane had never heard of Horizontal Vagina Syndrome and was intrigued when I explained it to him. Guess his PA never gave him the printed sheet I gave to her. Well, by looking at the pics he took inside the anus I still have active disease. He took several biopsies. I told him I still spot and have a lot of discharge coming out the vagina. He said I definitely do have a recto vaginal fistula, but to repair it and close up that anus is a major operation and as long as I am not in much discomfort (which I am not), to just leave things alone barring no sign of malignancy. I have to wait three weeks for the biopsy results.

Yep, still have my anus but not rectum. According to the report, it says proctitis 3 - 4 cm rectal pouch, with defect noted in superior portion. Multiple cold biopsies taken. It also states Rectal Exam....this confuses me because I was told I had no rectum. I have to clarify that with the surgeon on my next visit. According to the report...Rectal Exam: Tight anal opening, top of rectal pouch palpated, defect noted, some blood. Vaginal digital exam with superior defect, some blood noted. I don't know what they mean by superior defect. It doesn't sound good though..lol. Oh well. When they removed your anus, did they do it all in one operation?

Where did you have your operation? By where, I mean what hospital?

Hi Clo and Twingirls......so far no word on the biopsies. Today is two weeks. I was told it will take three weeks. I still have "gunk" coming out the vagina, but in the words of my original surgeon, who did NOT believe in sewing up the anus, "better out than in". I will keep you all posted. Say some prayers that all checks out fine. At my age, 71, I am tired of reading the obits and finding acquaintances in there every week! LOL!
