I have gotten used to having a bag i suppose but still sometimes i just feel abit odd an different now,, i think this is so strange how can i have this constant bag forever on me now,,my surgeon refuses to even talk about reversal he always says its too soon to talk about it,, i just dont see why he wont give me some kind of straight answer i dont think he can know or he would say anyway it looks to me i will be stuck forever this way an i dont mind it too much but i just feel weird still an like do you get over feeling weird an different , i guess if everyone had a bag i wouldnt feel weird just as i know most ppl dont an im like the weird person now

Hi! Did you expect to have an ileo or j pouch? Wasn't this discussed with your surgeon beforehand? I had ulcerative proctitis for twelve years before my surgery in 2010. When I went to see a surgeon, he told me I was NOT a candidate for j pouch. By that time, I was so sick of being sick, the thought of having a bag for the rest of my life AND being able to just live a life without being confined to my home, was welcoming. I have had an ileo for almost eight years now. No regrets. Talk to your surgeon and demand some answers.

I felt a little weird the first week but now I’m happy that I can finally live my life and go do things without fear. I would see why your surgeon won’t talk about the reversal though, hope you get things figured out!
