When I had my end ileostomy I had blockages weekly. The longest I had no stool come into my bag was just over 2 days. The pain is horrible even with very large doses of morphine and fentanyl it just hurts too much. I had to keep a catheter tube inside my stoma at all times to prevent it from blocking up. I would have to manually remove my stool every few days when I felt like my stoma was not working using a syringe to pull the stool through the catheter. This would happen regardless of what I ate which is why I had my second surgery pushed so forward. I became so scared of food I would only have 1 meal a day, sometimes not even that. The 1 meal was usually just some French Fries as I couldn't stomach anything else
So I lived off Fortisips/Ensures.
