I had surgery for a hernia repair, small intestinal stricture removal, removal of a segment of small intestine that bled so much that I had to have several blood transfusions and iron infusions, adhesion take down, and abdominal wall reconstruction, AGAIN!
I'm one of the lucky ones that has been plagued with hernias. Parastomal and other types of abdominal hernias.
I had surgery on November 16th.
The surgery was 8 hours long and I had to stay on the breathing tube for 24 hours due to breathing complications. They woke me up with the breathing tube and I had to wait 2 more hours for them to remove it. This was the scariest surgery I had ever had. I had fevers and was in the ICU for 4 days. Me and my family were just terrified.
I am now home and doing well and with the stricture removed, I have been experimenting with different foods. I have done ok with pickles, lettuce, apples, pears, lemons, and celery.
Well, last night I ate popcorn. Big mistake. I've been sick and nauseous all.day. I was having output this morning, but as the day has gone on, it is less and less.
I took extra zofran and I'm now drinking pickle juice and grape juice to try and clear the popcorn out.
I was doing so well eating all the foods I have been unable to eat in so long.
No more popcorn for me.
