I’m wondering if any know of a good hernia Dr on the west coast? Really anywhere west of the Rockies would be ok. I live in Washington state and already had my hernia repaired once and it came back within a few weeks. I had it done at UW in Seattle. I was planning to go to Cleveland but that may not be possible. I was told about
Dr Sean Orenstein in Portland and he trained at Cleveland. But it was just one persons experience. Any ideas? Thanks

I am suppose to go to UofW for a hernia repair. Can I ask who was the doctor that preformed the surgery? My doc wants me to see a abdominal reconstructive surgeon. I had a emergency surgery last year here in Juneau and it came back within 3 weeks. Needless to say I'm a little bit anxious.

Yes, his name is Andrew Wright.
He’s the hernia guy there but I don’t think the majority of his surgeries are parastomal hernias. I did ask beforehand and he does them and has experience just not lots compared to more common types of hernias. It came back right away and his assistant said the surgery failed.

Just wondering what Dr you were referred to? Have you had your surgery yet? And if yes, I hope things are going well.

I am planning a consult with the Dr in Portland in my original post. Dr Wright is a capable surgeon with quite a lot of experience and comes highly recommended. He didn’t help me but I have a lot of respect for him. Please keep us updated......I sure do wish you a successful outcome.

Alaskan,
Thought of you yesterday. Hope your surgery went well. Probably on lots of pain meds right now and pretty sore. But let us know how your doing when you feel better.... hugs!

I'm back home now. The surgery went well, I was released from the hospital the day after. I stayed in Seattle for the week as was recommended (just in case). Feeling good and it looks a whole lot better. Moving a round and taking it easy. Did you have your consult yet? Good Luck.

Wow can’t believe you got out that soon. Awesome! Haven’t done the consult and won’t for a while. Have some other things going on so will have to wait. Take things easy and don’t push yourself too soon tho...🙂
