I would like to throw my own two cents in now.
My name is Ryan, and I am eighteen years old. I too, since I was seven years old, have had an intestinal disorder. I had a malformation of the sigmoid colon. When someone talks to me about gastro tests, I can pretty much say, I have had 'em all! Barium (x5), lower GI, SITZ...etc. I am about to have another SITZ done as soon as my doctor orders the capsules. I am at the stage of surgery now. I will probably be having all of the colon, if not all the large intestine removed and the small intestine brought up to its place. The first surgery to remove the sigmoid area that was thought to have been diseased did not do anything. As of the exact moment, it has been a grand total of two-and-a half weeks since my last BM. I am a pretty big guy for being eighteen (6'6''). With this issue, it has brought me up to 279 lbs!
When I had the first surgery, things seemed to be going OK, and I was weighing in at 230 lbs, but slowly, I reverted back. When I went to my doctor today, he doesnt even know what would be wrong with me. This imperticular doctor has never done a SITZ test, so he has asked my help in the research process to aide him through the process, but he has done the required surgery.
With me being a senior in high school, this is a very difficult time in my life. I had my first surgery at the beginning of the year, and was out of school until December. I have been in and out at doctor appointments and staying home sick since then. I will now be missing the rest of the year, and be lucky to walk across the stage for graduation. I will get my diploma in the mail. I will be on what is called HomeBound, where the teachers come to me instead. I am just getting more scared as the hours go by that too much bowel is going to collect in one spot and it rips open. If so, then I am going to be passing away at a very young age. That is why I try and push my doctor to getting this done ASAP.
I just wanted to add that in there....I know what you are going through.
