About flying

Very interesting.  Good questions.  I am sure if we walk through the Xray machine, they will see it and ask us to go over where they do the one on one search.  Maybe at that point, is when we tell them.  Maybe we should notify someone at security about ostomies and what we need to carry so they are prepared.  I am sure if they have never seen or heard of ostomies, this will shock them for sure.  I think they need to be informed ahead of time and when we book our flight, we should be given some kind of special place where no one else has to see or hear us but one person from security.  Surely we won't have to remove it..  we can't.  It's really sad that it's gotten to this point now.  But I rather security be strict and as safe as it can be so I won't mind them searching me as long as they are informed about ostomies ahead of time. I wonder who we contact regarding ostomies at airports.  Pat

Hi everyone......  I have a friend that is finding out the answer for us.  He thinks we will be treated like the diabetics, carry a prescription and will be allowed to carry our supplies.  Right now, they are doing their best to accommadate everyone.  I am sure in time, our supplies will be marked or sealed in pkgs for security standards.  Things are still too new to allow certain things so until they figure out what and who to allow with their supplies, we just go with the flow.  I don't mind at all being searched and I undertand why it has to be done.  I only object not having my privacy if they need to do body searches without making it a big deal.  I will be the first one to tell them, yes I need you to check me, but let's go over there and be descreet without the entire airport hearing or seeing.  They will have to figure out some other ways for those of us with medical conditions and I am sure they will come up with some kind of packaging for those of us with medical supplies and the diabetics with their insulin and needles.  Maybe we can fly FIRST CLASS and kept away from other passengers. HAHA  I am glad I don't work security at airports, they can't pay me enough.   Iwill let you know when I find out about this question.  Have a good day... Pat

I just printed out a bunch of stuff from the TSA site, and it says that we can bring a note from a doctor but that will not really make a difference. We will still be subject to search. I hope someone can give us something to help us. On their site they do not address our situation at all. Our barriers are a gel material after all and so are the seal rings.
