Pain in my behind -- Why and how long?

Dear friends:

I had my rectum removed and a colostomy installed in my left stomach. I imagine the surgeon sewed up my behind by grafting the skin or whatever. I really don't know. What I do know is that after three months I continue to feel pain in my behind when I walk or bend. My surgeon and forum members here tell me that the pain will go away eventually. I am just wonderfing what needs to happen for the pain to subside or go away. Does the skin have to stretch for a certain period of time and settle in? How long before the pain really goes away?

No, actually, your remarks are encouraging. You mention that you felt a certain tightness in your behind for A FEW MONTHS. That's precisely what I am feeling. It's not real pain but a tightness. The tightness is of course a type of pain but I hope it goes away as yours did. I also hope my pain up front (as in your case) goes away soon. But my surgeon and nurse and other forum members say that it will take a lot more than three months, perhaps a year for the pain to completely go away. This was quite a trauma to the body so I can understand that it will take time. Just wanted to be reassured that EVENTUALLY the pain WILL go away so I can live a more normal life.
