Ileostomy reversal

Hello all,

Had the op for reversal of ileostomy three and a half weeks ago, and am due to see my surgeon next week for a check up. Am just about off the steroids, only been on them for about 6 -8 weeks. Just wondering what followups I can expect, i.e. regular colonoscopies, or medication, as apart from the steroids, I am not taking anything.

If you had the surgery for UC and you have a j-pouch, you should have annual scopes with a biopsy of the rectal cuff. We are still at risk for colon cancer in the remaing cuff. I am sure your surgeon will explain follow-up treatment to you.

Where and how did you have reversal surgery done? I would love to have it done if I could get rid of this bag. Could you tell me a little bit more about the procedure and who did it and where and if you had complications? What made you decide to have a reversal? Thanks.
