Hi there!
I'm from a different forum, but was being "nosey" and saw this post! :) Hope no one minds!
My mother had colon cancer and had a major surgery and a temporary illeostomy. Ever since then, she has struggled with pancreatitis about 2-3 x per year. To add insult to injury, every single time she has to go to hospital, she's basically accused of being an alcoholic - it got to the point that the first thing she would demand upon going to emerg was an alcohol content blood test!
My mom finally found a dr. (an internist) that explained to her that, in some people, the pancreas will be extemely sensitive due to any major abdominal surgery. She will likely be prone to pancreas problems for the rest of her life. The main advice was to completely cut out fatty foods from her diet. So far, so good - not problems in the past year.
Good luck! From what I can see from my mother, pancreatitis is a pretty painful thing to have, hope you do well.
