partial colectomy question

hey guys,

     I just had a bm through the conventional way.  what gets me is that, i also now about a month ago had my right side and half of my transverse colon removed and put on an illeostomy.  Is this a common thing, i do kinda remember one of the nurses say that i might pass that way on occasion but what do they mean by occasionly?

Do you have a loop ileostomy? If so, since both stomas are housed in the one bag, it is very possible for stool to make it's way up through the non-working stoma (the mucous fistula) and out via your rectum and anus as a 'normal' bm. There is no set amount of times for this to happen, just know that it can happen :)

as far as i know they just made my ilium into the stoma, and removed my ascending and half of my transverse colon. the surgeon didnt mention about looping anything back, i only have one stoma. btw i absolutly love your quote. thanks
