Don't be living in fear. It won't help. I just had a transverse colostomy (permanent). I too have a whole lot of various severe ailments and in addition I am overweight and out of shape. My cardiologist told me flat out that I could not survive major surgery, or if by chance I did I would be little more than a vegetable. My surgeon told me that I would die soon and very painfully of a complete bowel obstruction unless I did have surgery. When the chips are all in, there was not much of a choice left. I had the surgery. I feel better now than I have for several years. I have more vitality, no pain and a whole new outlook. You can do this, Just remember what the alternative is.
