Ileostomy and Weight loss/gain

I lost weight. But that's partly because I had my colon removed and the doctor said it weighed about 15 pounds.

Before my ileostomy I weighed anywhere between 135 to 145 pounds. After, I am holding steady at about 125 pounds. I think another major factor in my weight staying so low is the loose stool. I am having major problems getting a handle on the diarrhea.

I had a colostomy several years ago and it was much easier to put on weight then it is with my ileostomy.

I honestly think that if I could get a handle on the loose stool I would probably weigh a little more. Especially since I eat everything I can get my hands on! Everything that my stomach can handle that is. But it seems everything I eat comes right back out a couple hours later.

about a week before my surgery i was 135, but then the prep and being off my meds and tapering the steroids made my tummy upsest so i lost that way also, then when i came home from the surgery, which was two weeks after the first time i weighed i was 120, which for me is too little, at least now. I looked like a ghoul! i gained the weight pretty quick though, a steady diet of chips and ice cream helped! now i am staying right around 140, i need to go back to 135 though, but i can't stay away from those stupid mints at work!

I had a temp ostomy that was reversed in June. I went in the hospital in Feb and had emergency resection and had complications causing me to have the temp ostomy the week after. I still had many complications even after that surgery with abscesses etc. When I went in the hospital in Feb I was 119 (I was still tapering off of pred. I went up to 140 in the hospital from fluids pred etc. I lost some weight down to about 110 before my reversal and now I am at 99
