Ok Ladies, now that we are alone, I have a question.  I have been spotting since I was 3 days post-op; however, no "real" bleeding has occurred.  When I was 3 days out from surgery, I would have a tiny spot of blood when I would wipe.  Now I am almost 8 weeks out and every couple of day, I still have some spotting.  The blood never comes out, it just hangs out internally and I wish I would just START! My husband keeps telling me to make an appt to see my gyn but I am SO OVER seeing doctors and usually their answers are just a guess anyway.  I thought I would ask this forum instead.  Does it take a while for hormones to come back into balance after surgery?  I have not menstruated in 17 months but now that I am getting healthy, I would assume all natural things would eventually start running their normal course again.

What do you think? 

PS.  I am not pregnant.  I have already ruled out that option.

Well, I too, have lost my period for many many months (I think 18 was my longest stretch). However, when I 'got it back' it was always pretty normal. Almost like it never left. I hate to agree with your hubby, but if it keeps up you may want to make an appointment. Also, post-op (for me anyway) my hormones bounced back right away. I was pretty ticked to have to deal with that on top of getting better! Sorry, I'm sure that is not what you wanted to hear!

I've been spotting a bit, never enough to be a full on thing, but enough for me to get irritated! I also had the lovely cystitis and thrush just post-op due to a catheter.. nice.. :P

Amey - I had my last period just before surgery, and haven't had one since. I was due a few weeks ago, and am now waiting to see if I skip this month, too. I'm not pregnant, either, and, like you, I just don't want to go to another doctor's appointment. Ugh. I am hoping my body is just reacting to the stress of surgery, and so my hormones are out of whack...

It's weird. I had my period about 2 weeks before my last surgery. Then for some odd reason it came back on the day after my surgery. I was in the hospital 6 days and I bled the entire time. Plus I bled the entire first week I was home from the hospital. I wonder why that happens? Maybe stress?

Your homones and my hormones should get together. Maybe then you'll bleed less and I will bleed more. Sorry that you had your period right after surgery. That is awful. Like you don't feel bad enough...the last thing you need is to feel more bloated and uncomfortable. :o(

Justjenjen I know, I know...I may have to such my my pride and go see my gyn. What can they really do for me anyway? Are the period pills? I cannot take hormones. I have tried birth control pills in the past and my body retains water like a sponge. I will give this another month or two and if I do not regulate, I will humble myself and make an appt.

my period has always been screwed up, my whole life. But the week before my surgery i had my period and i was just praying it would go away before hand and it went away two days before. anyway, like the third day, i was walking, and i felt this icky stuff, and i thought the stiches on my butt had popped or something, but it was like this weird mini period, it lasted about a day, and the nurse said, just the hormones. Were you on pred? t hat can really screw you up too. Anyway, my period was messed up worse than normal for a few months. I think if it is not straightend out by four months post, then you should see the dr.

Hmmm. I wish I had that problem. As you know I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and I just started. I spotted on sunday and then it all came running in full force monday morning. I usually only run about 4 days but here we are on thursday and I am still going full force. I am still tapering my pred. though (if that does affect it), I start 10mg today and this past week, between post op, pms, and pred. I have never felt and been so evil as I am now. I feel for the people around me.

And your poll, the only thing men can multi-task is watching football while putting their hands in the popcorn bowl :)

the pred can affecct it, my periods have been heavier at times, and they seem to last longer also

Sorry you're getting hit with everything all at once. Just tell 'em the devil made you do it!! devil

Oh, and you can add drinking beer and hoarding the remote to the men's multi-tasking list! :-)
