Well it has finnally come to the point I am going to have to have surgery to get my herniated stoma repaired. It has been getting worse over the last couple of years and was waiting for the crohns to flair up again and have more colon removed, but I guess I am the ultimate good news bad news joke. No resent flairs of crohns but my colostomy no sticks out about 3 inches. Doc is going to try and do the push back in and sew in the mesh thing. Hope it works, if not it will have to be relocated.

Anyone ever had the mesh thingy done? How did it come out for you?

Hi, Just had surgery to repair my hernia on Dec.3. I did not have the mesh--I was told that with crohn's the mesh is not a good thing. They made an incision around my stoma and removed the hernia and 6 more inches of my colon that was wrapped in the hernia sak. They pulled everything out instead of working in which is more of a chance of infection. He stitched it right back to where it was originally. They actually sent me home the same day and then I ended up in the emergency room on friday dec.7th with a blockage. I just came home on sunday. They said until the stitches of the hernia are healed I will have a hard time to pass a normal stool. Must take milk of magnesia every day to help. My stoma is soooo swollen --my stoma before surgery was flush to my belly -- now it sticks out about 1.5 inches. The surgeon said it will go down. Can't wait to get back to normal--whatever you call normal living with a permenate colostomy and crohn's!! DAY BY DAY!! Good luck with your surgery..
