After how long, after surgery for ileostomy can i fly?

Hi everyone, i'm due my surgery for the 24th of Jan and i've booked tickets abroad with my kids for the 13th of march, you must b wondering how silly she's thinking of holiday's already, the thing is that i was booked for surgery in the first week of december then that got cancelled, then i was booked for the 3rd of Jan that got cancelled. after suffering for so long i thought at last i can go on holiday with my three children, this holiday was planned the first time i was given a date but now it only gives me 7 weeks, so i wanted to know if i would be well enough to go?

p.s i won't be travelling that much and will be looked after and having a rest as i have family there, please can u help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had my ileostomy for two years now and have never had a blockage. I've heard that blockages are mainly caused by a narrowing of the intestine from Crohn's more often than eating something that gets stuck. The main thing is to chew your food really well and drink plenty of water.

When it comes to flying 7 weeks after surgery, you should be fine. Good luck with your surgery, and please keep us posted on how you're doing.

It seems like the empty stomach problems always kick me in the butt!!  Just about any time I have had any type of partial blockage or discomfort, it is when I am eating something that is questionable on an empty stomach, or a fairly empty stomach.    Will I do it again in the future?  Maybe.  Sometimes I just don't think cause I feel good and normally can eat about anything.  Would I do it intentionally?   OH, heck NO!
