I have been sick for too long now with vomiting and dehydration. Went to the hospital last week and had IV intravenous but that was all. Now, I'm home just as sick as ever. Just cannot keep food down. What can I do about this? It is killing me. I have an ileostomy and am seeing the doctor every two weeks.

Dutches, I have found out that my husband has been really sick and they finally gave him TPN with is nutrition in a back. This will help you get better because you are losing liquid out your ileostomy and how can you get the nutrition that you need to get well. It tooks a while to get him going but has made a big difference. I felt the same way that this disease was killing him. He has lost 50 lbs.

Dutches,

Why are you vomitting with the ileostomy? Are you obstructed? Do your Drs know you are vomitting? I nearly died in June from dehydration. I was put on life support for 6 days. This is serious business! If you are dehydrated and vomiiting, I would go to the ER. You may be slightly obstructed.

No  worries!  My typing can be pretty horrendous at times...  just sounded funny when I read it thru the first time!

Amey: I don't know why I'm vomiting. The doctor said it is blockages. They don't seem to be doing anything for me and I am so sick. Will have to go the emergency and get help. Losing so much weight. I'm scared of it all.

PLEASE go to the ER and get some fluids.  At the very least, dehydration can do irreparable damage to other organs if not treated right away. I landed in the ER and ICU because of it and they had to keep a close watch on my kidneys. You definitely don't want dialysis on top of an ostomy!  I hope you feel better really soon.  Keep us posted.

Thanks Candyland: I phoned the doctor and told them about me. All he said was to come in the office. I am so weak though, I just feel horrible. I hope I can get help before it is too late.

I phoned the doctor today, and he said to come to the office. I am so weak, and yet they want you to go to the office. He hopefully will help. Maybe there isn't any help for me. I just don't know anymore. It is so terrible when you can't get the help you need. It has been too long now and things are out of hand.

I can only add my voice to the others. I am sure you will feel better if you are hydrated. I would even consider calling 911 so that you can get some fluids as soon as possible.

The doctor will have to make arrangements for me. Other times I have gone to emergency and they just don't know what to do. IV intravenous for a few days and they send me home. I've had 10 operations and they do not want to operate any more. They don't think I could take another surgery. I'm out of options.

Dutches - you need IV fluids right away.  Like Richard said, call 911 or have someone drive you over to the ER.  Have you explained to the dr. that you're too weak to drive yourself?  He should call ahead and have orders waiting for you at the hospital instead of telling you to come by and see him first.  You will most likely feel better when they get some fluids in you.

I am on my way. My son is going with me. He is going to tell the doctor to do something now. It has been way too long that I have been living like this. Maybe my son will have an affect on the doctor. Just don't know. If I go to emergency they want orders from the doctor. It takes forever to get them to understand that I have this problem.
