Pancreatitis Anyone?

I posted a topic yesterday in the UC forum, but I should have looked a little closer as I think this one may be more relevant for us.  Anyway, my wife had J-pouch surgery almost 1 month ago.  She's still in the hospital.  The J-pouch surgery seems to have went great and the ileostomy is working perfectly.  She came home 5 days after surgery.  2 days after that, she was admitted back in with Pancreatitis.  Almost 4 weeks now with that.  She had never taken Imuran (sp?) or any of the meds. for UC that can cause Pancreatitis.  She's also had deydration, esophigitis, feeding tube, and pneumonia while she's been in the hospital.  I think we're also starting to see some depression (who can blame her right?).  Anyway, my question is, has anyone else dealt with Pancreatitis?  Does it go away when your enzymes return to normal?  They're going take her gall bladder out when they do her take down surgery.  It's just keeping her healthy and well to that point.  Any and all comments welcome, please.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife. I'm even sorrier that I can't give you any feedback. I hope someone on the UC forum was able to help you a little if not a lot. In any case God bless you and your wife and let her know that someone out here fells that she is very blessed to have a husband who cares about her.

I hope you will not feel so helpless. Coming to a forum is a good thing to get help!

I have had pancreatitis since I was 18 years old. I know that your wife is being well taken care of in the hospital. I want to send you to a site that deals with pancreatitis. I am sorry it is not a Forum, but just a lot of information.

Hi again!

I didn't think to ask. Was your wife on Imuran? For about 3% - 5% of patients on Imuran, a very rare side effect might be pancreatitis. If so, she should not use it again.
