nhs waiting list

Hi there, this my first post

But before i go on i would just like to say thanx for the brilliant site i have gained so much info from here,

I am currently on my surgeons waiting list for a sub-total proctocoletmy as i have severe rectal crohn's disease and a per-anal fistula.

I was told by the hospital a couple of months ago that they can guarentee that i will have had my operation by the 25th august but they can't give me a date.Well the 25th of aug is only what six weeks away and i still haven't heard a thing.

I called hospital waing list yesterday to ask A. any date yet and B. if not how long will it be before i hear anything.They told me that i should hear any day as i will get a letter to go for a pre admission appointment 3 weeks prior to the op.

So i was just wondering how long it was before anyone ready got there operation letter?

i have had quite a few operations on NHS - the letter can sometimes arrive quite late - about 3-4 weeks before surgery, so dont get worried - my last surgery i was told just a few weeks away and had pre-admission the day before - good luck
