Ileostomy

I'm looking forward to an ileostomy soon to rid Ulcerative Colitis. My Q is when they remove my rectum and sew it up, is there a track or opening or some sort of leadway.

Lets say I have a fistula and they sew over it, will their be a problem later?

Also I have had 3 prostate infections in the last 2 years(thanks UC ) and about the only way you can over come the infection in a timely matter is to manual massage the prostate it's self, which is about 2"-3" up the rectum. Will I still have access to it?

 

When they sew up your rectum, there's no hole anymore, so I don't think you'll be able to access that area. I had a fistula, and it disappeared when I had my colon and rectum removed. I wonder if once you're UC-free, you won't get those infections anymore? You could ask your doctor about that. I'm glad you're looking forward to having an ileostomy and being rid of UC. After being sick for 12 years, you're going to feel like your 16 again!

i dont understand i thought your body still produces mucis (sorry if thats not spelt right) and it comes out there if its close of the hole where does it?
