everybody has their own answer to anything

dont have time to send much of a responce back. but what you having done.. do you know if your having surgery now or is it still a waiting game. and also what are they doing to you. . you having a subtotal colectomy or you having a bag on the out side or inside (sorry i am not good with my terms, i dont know that correct terms at all) . just wondering i can only tell you about a subtotal and for me it was very very painful and i thought i was going to die. not to scare you but it wasnt fun. my lungs clappsed part way and that hurt so bad also. but after the first few days things just keep getting better. you will hate the tube in your nose to your stomach. you will hurt like crazy to get out of bed and walk. you will want to cry but know it will only hurt more to cry because you will have to blow your nose but blowing your nose will hurt your belly so you dont want to do that either. but in the end it was worth it all to me at this point. I am still recovering and still in pain but am glad i finally got it done. as far as the weight you loose. of course you will loose weight at first because of prep and light eating. but hey doesnt mean this is a weight loss program because once you can eat again you will gain it back if your a person who likes junk food and fatty foods. You will loose some weight ,but people do with the flu and that doesnt mean you will be getting so skinny. because when you get better you eat more and so on. and you cant exersize like you might want to becasue your stomach was cut and you have to heal. my dr told me yesturday that i still have to take it easy for 3 more months. not lift much or exersize much. i can walk or ride bike but not just yet he said. so more taking it easy.
on the flip side your food wont be in your body so long now so there for things dont stick to you as bad as they did.
I started my BM in the hospital at like day 3 or 4. and home day 5. I dont have a bag but i go about 5 times a day. the dr told me that will get better also. but i am thinking i want it to stay. LOL

and hey yes i asked the dr and my appendix was taken out during my surgery. i had no idea.. that was interesting

mommy- i am definitely having a total colectomy ileorectal anastomosis within this coming week hopefully.
