HI everyone had my gallbladder out last week. Came home from the hospital on monday did not feel very good untal yesterday.I have a new 5 inch scar to go with all the other ones I have also a 3/4 inch one where the drain tube was.I have had alot of drain tubes this year but this was the first one that I was awake when thay took it out.DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN!I am going to get my staples out in the morning. smhair

I'm glad you're back. What were your symptoms, if you don't mind my asking. Also, how was your reversal? Did it go smooth, was it easy to get used to "normal" again? Was the recovery for the reversal easier than the original sugery on the colon? My reversal is the Dec 15 and I'm a little nervous. Any idea how long before I could go back to work (desk job)?

Sorry for all the questions. You simply amaze me with all you've been through and all the responsibility you have; I thought you'd be a great source of information.

By now your staples are probably out. I hope all went well, please write and let us know.

2 RIS K On my gallbladder I new for a long time that it was bad I just kept puting it off.Both of my sisters and several aunts and uncles all have had to have theres out because of gallbladder desease.Most of are symptoms were relatd to the foods that we ate.If I eat high fat foods like fryed chicken or baked goods that have alot of fat I feel gross in the morning with upset stomich,kind of sour,I dont know how to put ths I just feel bad.My sister has pain along with the yucky feeling.I thjnk its more pain if you have stones(none of us had them).My reversal was in June.It did go real good.I will never be "normal" again because I only have 1/2 of my small intestin.It took me about 2 months to feel better.I am on disabilaty and dont work at this time but I would say that you need at lest 2 months befor you go back to work and it might be longer.For me my reversal was alot easier then the first surgery if you read other post on this most everyone else says the same thing.Well I hope that I have ansewerd your questions if not sorry. Debbie - I hope your recovery continues to go well too. I also had my gall bladder taken out, during my colon resection for rectal cancer. I was a gall bladder attack waiting to happen they said (I had hundreds of gall stones and didn't even know it, they showed up on a pre-op cat scan).

Like you, I'm getting by with less colon too, no GB, and will never be normal again.

Heck, at this point, I don't even know what normal is anymore!

It's taken me 9 long years to figure all of this out. But the thing that helps me the most is to eat very small meals, plain food and time when I eat. Skipping meals or eating after I'm home. Gone are the days I could socialize with a large meal with friends and continue staying out, enjoying after dinner drinks or live music, for examples. Or going to see a play! I could never eat a full meal and then expect to sit down in a theater seat for several hours. Without bm's starting up. I actually reverse that schedule - eating after a play.

Things I'm sure you're having to do also - adjusting your diet, your schedule, etc.

But the flip side in my case would be that I would not be here.

And the flip side in your case is you wouldn't be here either. It sounds like you have such a large and loving family. I'm sure you count each and every single day as a bonus! You've come this far and I'm sure will continue to just get better and better (and get to the point where you just manage having less colon, etc. like I do). It is funny though, so many people think I'll be normal again. I want to ask - and what planet are you living on? LOL

Losing a vital part of the GI tract really does affect so much. It's hard to believe it until you live through it.

knew everything would be ok, so happy you are recovering, are your famil spoiling you rotten and taking good care of you? why i am asking i dont know cos we already know the anser to that.

Thanks to everyones replys.Yes my family is taking good care of me.I have spent the last two days sleeping because my granddaughter gave me the stomich flu(just what I needed).I hate it when I get sick because even a mild bug wipes me out then my poor husband gets so worryed.Thank goodness I am feeling better today.My 22 year old came home from collage for thanksgiving yesterday and I felt so bad that I could not even wake up to fix dinner for him and the house looked like a war zone.He tells me not to worry but I am a mom who has always liked my house to be farly clean(not spotliss but clean)and now I cant even begin to keep up.I am so glad to have him home for a little bit just wish the 23 year old would have came with him.
