smokers not-anonymous :D

Well so far so good, still no butts. I notice I'm not thinking about having a smoke any more, I'm thinking about having a lozenge LOL. The real test will be this weekend-cousin's husband's bday party, it'll be a highschool reunion of sorts with loads of booze and cigs. I almost don't want to go, but there will be so many ppl there that I haven't seen in years, booooo!!!

keep your hands BUSY!!! to me it was harder to get over that than the actual nicotine. I still find that my hands need soemthing to do. I like those lik a stix. I keep those around, it's been almost 10 years since i quit smoking but i still get jittery with my hands sometimes.

i was like that too tbraz, for teh first couple of months i would find myself chasing people who were smoking around just breathing!
But now, most of the time, it gives me a headache
something that reallyhelped me was i had kept a shirt that i wore alot when i smoked and i didnt wash it and anytime ithought about smoking i would smell it and i would think, dear god i smelled like that! ick!

For Crohn's you usually get better when you quit smoking, and flare if you have UC.

What's the worst thing that could happen if you did use the Chantix to quit before your surgery? You are already having the colon removed right?

Maybe try the patch?

Super Bowl Menu at my house is as follows:

Buffalo wings, chicken qesadillas, pico de gallo, lil smokies, sausage balls, bacon wrapped jalapenos(all things pork, it is football after all).  And would you believe I'm gonna be the only one here!!  Just found out hubby has to go to Texas for a week on work, so it should be the perfect time to go cold turkey on smoking.Unless you consider the fact all my kids are grown, moved out, but within a matter of a week, one moved home(in between rentals), another needs to stay for a couple weeks(wife trouble).  Third one still in Florida at school til May.  O-yeah.  Wonder why I have Crohns.  Anyhoo- if ya'll read about trouble in a small town in Arkansas, you'll know it didn't go to good.

hey gutless! when I quit a previous time, i did it cold turkey. 2-1/2 packs a day to nothing, and I immediately had a huge flare which put me into the hospital. IMO they are very linked. which is why i'm cutting down slowly this time..

so far so good for me. i just got back from that party and my clothes reek of smoke, I don't really like it like you said, tbraz. When I got home I changed right away. I managed not to smoke but still had a good time. I've only had two lozenges today so there is some progress there too. so...onward...

Hey Ya'll

It's gutless-well- not til Feb12- technically.  Don't you just love people from the south, they spell just like they talk.  You should read our text messages.  Matt, thanks for the support.  Today is the day.  My surgeon wanted me to be quit for 3 weeks before surgery, but since he's been prepaid what's he gonna do-cancel?  Don't think so.  Since hubby went out of town, it's just me and the dogs, if you don't count the two sons who had to move back home temporarily, so the body count shouldn't be too high.  I get really vicious when I quit smoking.  I'm not too worried about eating my way out of smoking, I had a remicade infusion on the 7th and things are going good with that.  Plus, I weigh in at a whoppin 89lbs so I'm trying to eat as much as possible before surgery.  I read real food may not be on the menu for a while.  Which has me worried, because I love food.  Cooking is one of my hobbies.  Just ask my husband.  He's says I'm killing him with the skillet.  I live for the ummmm sound at the dinner table.  By the way, this site is fantastic!!  While I have a great support team here at home, sometimes they can't be as honest as they need to be.

If you want to commit gastrointestinal suicide, here's the recipe.  But I'm one of those people who don't really follow recipes, just kinda use what my family likes, but here it is. I use a package of cream cheese at room temp, mix in some roasted red peppers,garlic powder or some roasted garlic if I have it, salt, pepper.  Cut a T in jalapenos, scoop out as much of the insides as you can, stuff in cream cheese mixture, wrap with bacon and grill till the bacon is cooked.  That trick with putting the cream cheese mixture into a ziplock bag and nipping the end off to squirt into peppers really works.  Also, if you like shrimp, you could even dice some, add that to stuff in there too.  Yummy!!  All of my kids(Grown men) seem to like this with cold beer.  Speaking of beer-is that considered to be one the clear liquids a person can have when doing the before surgery prep?  Hmmmmmmm

ok cool. I will try it without the creamcheese since I don't eat dairy...Should be tasty!

well since my last post i've tried those bacon wrapped jalapenos several times haha...omg i totally recommend, they're soooooooo tasty, yum!! also tried wrapping mushrooms and escargot which are also both very tasty.

i'm still smoke free, having a tough time lately though...today has been very very VERY bad with cravings, i just want to light up it's crazy. now i smell cigerette smoke coming in my window from somewhere, it's sooooo delicicous. been sucking on lozenges all day constantly :( i was down to one lozenge per day, i think i've had like 8 today. why is today special, lol, it's been like 5 weeks or something and now the worst cravings have started, argh i'm bummed.

smell really is the greatest of the senses: ever smelled something and it takes you back in time, like you're ThErE? that's what i'm experiencing now, and it's only a whiff of that sweet smell, it really is amazing i feel like i went back in time, wow. oone whiff of the stuff and i was back at my buddy's place from highschool surrounded by friends watching xfiles, haha. it was our weekly sunday night ritual for many many years. fond memories of people i never see anymore, fun times which i don't seem to have anymore :( :( is growing up supposed to be so boring?? my youth was awesome, lots of parties, lots of hunnies, lots of fun...fast cars and fast chicks lol. now all i do is work at a job i don't paricularly like, in a city i hate. work, gym, eat, sleep, every day. ******* boring. and now i don't even have a cig to keep my sorry *** company :( sorry for the rant i hope it makes some sense i've been drinking ceasars most of the day. guess i'm just bummed about life in general, 27yo and happiness doesn't seem to want to find me. only time i was happy was in highschool hanging with my friends, smoking cigs watching xfiles. i've tried to buy happiness but that only works temporarily, moved to different cities but that hasn't worked either, boohoo. i dunno what to do, perhaps another ceasar for now lol...
