Oh woe is me!!!

So i have my first stomach bug since getting surgery almost 2 years ago!

I was really sore wednesday all day, but thought it was from keeping up with all them little boys on tuesday (2 three years and a four old are ALOT of work,lol) and i was really tired that day.  But then Thursday morning at like 4am i woke up with bag like SOOO full and horrible tummy pains.  At first i thought, oh crap i got a blockage!  But i couldnt think of anything that would have caused one.  I ached all over so bad that i could not even stand to lay in the bed so i got up and i was emptying my bag like every 30 minutes and i figured, well i dont have a bloackage with all this stuff pouring out of me, lol.

I had to get my grandma to come get my son to take him to school and take care of him, cause i just coudl not do it, i was so tired and so sore.

Anyway, I finally went back to sleep then woke up later and started throwing up.  But I laid back down and went to sleep for a few minutes.  then realized i was i was dehydrted when i ws dizzy laying down.

So on the advice of many posts i had read here, i went ahead and calld my husbnd to reserve me a room (he's and ER manager, very helpful!) and called my Mom to take me.  And went on to the hosptial and got some fluids and some pain meds and some phenogren (thats tuff is awesome) and some protonix.  I felt much better after that. 

Then i ate soem fries on the way home, and those came out liek they should hae, although i still have alot of output. I slept for like 14 hours though!  Only having to empty like every 2 hours of so.  I ate a banana just now so hopefully that will help thiccken it up some.

Having a stomach bug (minus the ER trip) is much easier with a bag than the regular way though,lol.

On the way to the hospital i said, "i htought my days of going to the ER were over, but once in two years is much better than at least 5 a year."

So anyway, i got to get me better here today!  Supposed to throw a party tonight for a friends bday, and the girl who is helpign me had surgery on Tuesday, so the two of us are gonna be quite the pair!

Poor Summerstorm!! It is a lot easier our way vs. the old fashioned way!! No more ass-burn for us!!!

When I opened your post, I thought, well what funny story do we have today! I'm so sorry you had/have a bug. You did the eXAct right thing... IV fluids are the best in your situation. Good thinking. Helps when your DH is head of the ER, huh? Take care. Try some baked potatoes too, pasta, you know the drill. Watch the alcohol beverages this evening. Don't you feel like you have a hangover from the phenergan? It does the trick but knocks the bejesus outta me.

lol peggy, no drinking for me tonight! I still feel drunk from the phenogren!
Yeah its nice to be married to the head of the ER dr came in and said, whats wrong and i told him and i said, "I need some fluids, some phenogren and something for the pain" and the dr said, Ok. Then he says, will a script for phenogren be good to take home and i said yeah that's fine, and he said, ccan you take immodium? I thought it was so funny taht the dr was askign me what i could take, i guess cause of the bag, lol.
Sorry no funny story though, dont worry i will have one soon i am sure!

When I saw your topic, I was thinking it was another funny story, too, but I'm sorry you got so sick. sad You definitely did the right thing by going to the ER and getting some fluids and meds.

I can't believe you're hosting a party tonight! Hope you continue to feel better.

I wasnt hosting it, it was at Andys house it was supposed to be a suprise party, but his dumb girlfriend ian (we dont like her much) told him for some stupid reason.
ugh, anyway, it didnt last long.

Ok here is a story for you though not about me but it is srugery related. Deanna just had surgery, it was laproscopic, and they made three tiny holes around her belly button. Well Tim, her husband, went to change the bandage for her yesterday (he doesnt deal well with blood and such) and when he pulled the bandage back he quickly gasped turned white and covered it back up, and says, "OMG theres a HOLE" their little boy (he's 3) comes running in, "No daddy no, it's bleeding!"
And she says Tim thats my belly button!
I laughed so hard when i heard that.

Wifey has also been feeling pretty lousy for the last 24 hours. She thought it might have been something she ate. But, judging from your thread, there must be something going around.

has anyone had a dr or nurse that didnt know you had an ileo listen to your belly?
My nurse came in and right away started doing that, and i figured that since my husband worked there and tehy were good friends she knew
You should have seen her face when she put the stethscope (sp?) over the bag (it was allpuffed up from gas) it was so funny. She didnt know the bag was there, cause she was on the outside of my pants, and you could tell she was thinking, what the heck is wrong with her, why is her stomach so big right here, and why is it all smushy like!

I've never had that happen, but - I know this is way off topic - have you ever had a doctor stick a finger in your stoma? My GI did that once, and I thought it was going to hurt, but it didn't. She put KY Jelly on her finger and in it went! shocked What a brave woman! They couldn't pay me enough to do her job.
