I guess I will wear stretchy pants forever

I am going back to work next week so I broke out my jeans and slacks. Well- they are so uncomfortable. I feel like my stoma is being squished and its kinda hurts -a little. Today when I changed my bag the stoma was bleeding a little- just when I wiped with the gauze and around the edge next to the skin.
Then, when I emptied my bag, it was a bit red>>> Now I had red punch. Is this connected?

To top it all off, even though I had initially lost weight after the surgery, I have gained it back and a few more. I want to be comfortable at work.

So my questions:

Is it possible to hurt the stoma with tight clothing? I know some of the ladies wear girdles or control top panty hose. Doesn't this damage the stoma?
If I drink something red, is it possible to have some red output?

Jackie--we are on similar tracks! I took out my capris and shorts this weekend. I had lost a good deal of weight this winter. However, my abdomen is very swollen. Add the stoma to that mix with the low waists I bought before I knew about surgery and I have a squished stoma too--and clothes that kinda fit. I was wondering the same thing--as the output seems to get stuck above and around the stoma if my waist is tight.

Funny, I am eating a red popsicle as I type. I knicked the skin near my stoma when I changed the bag--had left a rough edge when I cut the opening.

Well, I don't know about you all, but I am all about COMFORT!!!!! I like being comfy, and their are some decent clothes out there that are really cute. Esp, with summer and little sundresses and all. They are really comfy. I wear my jeans and they are pretty snug, and I don't have a stoma issue. But I do wear a convex wafer so it is a little protected from that.

Beware of RED punch, RED velvet cake, ..... You will have red output and Yes, I did the same as summer the first time.... OMGosh, I'm dying!!!!!!! THat was my first thought. And to this day, it still scares the doowaddins' out of me when I forget that I have eatin' something red like that. Not everything will turn your output red, and I don't know why it is like that, but it is.

Just remember...nutrients (and calories) are absorbed in the small intestine...so yes, it is easy to GAIN weight without a colon:( My doc always asks me if I have a problem with losing weight and then we both laugh!!! You'll find a way to maintain once you get to your 'comfortable' weight:)

I did the comfy clothes and slowly started wearing jeans again...you'll find a style that works best for you and then you'll have your reconnect and everything will go back to normal!!!

I went shopping for comfy pants with elastic waistbands, unfortunately, I couldn't find anything that didn't look like I was 85 yrs. old.

So I figured it out--- maternity pants. They are much more stylish now and no one can tell they are maternity pants. Very comfy.
