thank you summerstorm & ohio76 for the advice.
i am in ohio too so ohio76 you know the humidity can be a bear. i also work in factory that has no a/c plus the air does not move. fans just blow the hot air all around. i mean you can get a thought and your sweating so i am just paranoid as all get out about this. change over at work is NOT what i want! ill just deal w/ it the best i can.
anybody out there showering on a daily basis w/ bag on? its got to take a toll on the wafer?
any tips on this from you vets? this would be very helpful and priceless. right now im wired w/ a supra-pubic tube until sept. and it sure would be nice to shower and let h2o run all over it but the wafer would get drenched. is a hairdryer safe to use?
anybody out there use a turkey basster(sic) to rinse the bag when dumping? not the whole bag but just the tip? old trick im sure but i think it really works.

I am formerly from near Canton, OH too, but now live in IN. Small world. Wonder if there is something in the water in OH? Yes, humidity can be a bear. As far as showering, I do it daily and when I'm working outside or whatever, more than once a day. And, yes, I do use a hairdryer for a quick blow dry on a low setting. I still get 5-7 days wear time, even in the summer. Again, tho, if I get the itchies, I know it is time to change if a quick rinse doesn't calm it down... sometimes that will buy me a day or two longer. I tend to push my luck... Many folks don't bother with using a blow dryer, but I usually shower before bed and I feel better if it is dry. I usually rinse out the whole bag once or twice a day, and I also many years ago used a turkey baster! Now, I just grab a bottle of water. Leaving a bottle of water sitting by the sink looks better for guests than a turkey baster in the bathroom!!!! Seems like there is an empty water bottle around somewhere that I can just refill in the bathroom whenever I want.

im gonna crawl b4 i can walk. im gonna play it by ear for now. did dr. victor fazio do your op? im in olmsted falls, originally north ridgeville. yes whats w/ the h2o? are you anywhere close to seymour? im a big john mellencamp fan. im really thankful for your advice and tips peggy it means so much you have know idea.

i never thought of using a turkey baster, lol. But that would be a good idea. I bought (you are gonna laugh) those bottles like ketchup and mustard come in at diners, the squeeze kind, from walmart and use them sometimes. I did it alot at first but rarely now.
You can get these sureseal things that you can put over your wafer which will protect it from getting as wet.

any dollar store should have them. just a cheapy. i dont clean the whole bag just the tip and such its easier to just wipe w/ t.p. and go. ill have to ask about the sureseals. who is the manufacturer?

Yes, Dr. Fazio was my saving grace. He saved my life more than once and I will always be indebted to him. I just love his bedside manner, with that Aussie accent. MMMM.. what a nice man. It just isn't right that he is ill.

I don't live too far from Seymour, actually I live in Bloomington and Mellencamp is pretty well know with respect to donating to Indiana University. I work there part time now. Used to work full time for many years. He is spotted around town often. He is actually living not too far from Nashville, IN now. We like his music too.

the accent and the smell of his pipe... i remember that day vivdily. this was back in 92-93. he saw the video of my insides and the next day i was under the knife. he is a wonderful man. if in fact if this is true its WRONG!
for a man that has helped countless its just not right. like i said no1 mentioned cancer. hes just in different capacity. mellencamp rocks! turns out the company i work for deals w/ a company down your way and imagine my surprise i was sent their to represent my compamy. spent a week in a "SMALL TOWN" lol roaming chestnut street and the rest of his old haunts. it was weird and cool. love to get an autograph.he seems down to earth and never forgot his roots.

I was just going to mention the Sure Seal rings...I put one on every time I change. It helps to keep the area dry and all I have to do is wipe the wafer and pouch with a towel. I never used a hairdryer(lazy) so these are great:)

I shower at least once a day without any problems...I don't rinse my pouch, either, just wipe the end and lock n roll!

Look them up with your supplier!

how long have you had your stoma? where in this buckeye state do you live?

I am not sure of the manufacturer. If you type in 'Sure Seal' it will come up. THey are clear rings that fit over your wafer...kind of like Saran Wrap!

I've had an ileo of sorts for about 10 years...the last year has been with a permanent one!! Love it:)

I'm in the Akron/Canton area...there are a few posters from the NE Ohio area!!
