I need help.  I had an ileostomy 4 wks ago.  thursday is my grandsons graduation at 7 pm. Im told once you get into the auditoruim you can leave until the graduation is over. So....if I don't eat anything after say 3pm will I be safe and not have to empty the bag for 3 or 4 hours. I know it's crazy but I am really worried about.

I go tomorrow for my 4 week check up and hope he may be able to give me an idea when we can do the take down.

had uc 5 years

tried all meds

nothing helped

Surely they'll have toilet breaks.
they can't expect u to go that long. It's unreasonable. Plus if u tell them it's an emergency.......

If you don't eat much, you should be able to make it through the entire graduation.

I just sat on an edge near the back for my sons graduations and left once and came right back. All five times no one made me sit back down or wouldn't let me back in. An emergency is a good reason!!! Not eating for awhile before sounds like a good plan but you can leave if you have to.

Hope it's a nice ceremony.

if you dont eat though, you might get bad gas.
I would take some immodium before hand and that should help slow it down. Also eat some thickening foods, like frenchfries or something.
But i think you should be able to get out.

No one can stop you going to the loo if you need to surely? You're an adult and they have no control over what you do. If you need to go, then go :)

PS as Summerstorm mentioned, not eating = lots of gas so try and have a little bit of something in your tummy at all times :)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR REPLIES.....FORTUNATLY WHEN I WENT TO THE DOCTOR
TUE HE GAVE ME A PREscriptION FOR IMMODIUM SO HOPEFULLY THAT WILL HELP.
MY NEXT PROBLEM IS BEING SO SHORT OF BREATH ESPECIALLY WHEN I STAND OR WALK. IT HAS BEEN 4 WEEKS SINCE MY ILEOSTOMY AND THE DOCTOR WANTS TO DO THE TAKE DOWN IN 3 WEEKS. I'M JUST WORRIED about MY BREATHING. HAD ALL KINDS OF TESTS AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANY REASON WHY I AM BREATHLESS. AGAIN THANKS
