OT ? need advice

You remember all the mouse problems we had in our basement ceiling.......

Now we are trying to sell our house. We've had lots of showings (about 10) and have been on the market about 3 weeks.
We almost had an offer yesterday, but her dad said no, b/c it smells like cats.
NO WAY! My cats are very clean, and I am very clean about them. Litter box is scooped daily, they don't have inappropriate urination/defication. My realitor doesn't even think it smells like cats.
But there is that faint mice odor. it especially smells when it's humid (like now) and right when you go downstairs. I think when people see the litter boxes, they assume that's what it must be....the cats.
My husband and I think maybe people are smelling the left-over mice smell.

Does anyone have suggestions about what we could put in the ceiling to absorb the odor?

We are sooooo diappointed we did not sell it.

I want to move while the interest rates are still low, and they are already going back up!!!!!

Any suggestions?

I know there are some odor eliminators that have something to do with charcoal. Have you googled mice deotorizers? I'm sure you have. How sad you didn't sell your house. I know how anxious you are to move...and how anxious you probably are to 'live' in your house and not keep it like a show room!

I'm a cat person too and I hate to give you this advice, but if you are serious about moving it might be best to move the cats and the litter boxes from the house until the house is sold. This way prospective buyers won't know you ever had cats in the house and won't conjure up odors that may or may not be there.
