anyone ever read the instructions?

So i was looking at the instructions on the paste the other day, and this cracked me up, it shows it in picture form.

And it shows the person with the stoma uncovered.  Then it shows to take the cap off the paste, put the paste on the wafer, peel the edge off the wafer, put the wafer on, then put the cap back on, BEFORE you put your bag on!

I just foudn this funny because we all know you should have all that stuff done before you take the cover off your stoma, you dont want that thing uncovered any longer than it has to be!  I cant imagine standign there with it uncovered spouting everywhere doing all that stuff!

Oh and have any of you ever touched your stoma?  it feels so icky, lol.

Oh my gosh!! I was so grossed out the first time I touched it!! It is so yucky feeling!!!

have you looked at the demo instruction pics on some of convatec's bag/wafer products? The woman has perfect skin and no incision scars at all!

I've accidently brushed my arm up against it at times and am totally grossed out. I get the gags. YUCK.
But
with the bag on, i'm always pushing on it. Kind of a habit now. It helps me to know the status of it. (leaking, swelling, shrinking)

I shower with my bag off and touch my stoma constantly while cleaning around it, it doesn't gross me out at all. Sure it's a little slimy, but so are many other things, it's actually a very fascinating thing to watch lol
