It's great to hear from you so soon after surgery, and I'm thrilled you're doing so well! Isn't it amazing to be rid of that diseased colon? You are now UC-free!! woo hoo!
I agree with everyone's advice to walk as much as possible. That will get things moving. The sooner things move, the sooner you can eat and go home. But, go easy on eating anything until you definitely get output. It will be watery at first, but that's normal. It will slow down and thicken over time.
Some tips... mouthwash or hydrogen peroxide in the pouch works great as a deodorizer. Also, ask the nurse for some adhesive remover wipes to use when removing the wafer. The wafer and pouch they give you after surgery are horrible and nothing like the ones you'll be using on a regular basis. The ostomy nurse is there to help you, and so are we.
