Inter change company's flanges and bags?

I read someone say that they could change one company's flange with another company's bag? I couldn't find the post so if anyone one gets what I'm even asking and can help that would be great.

Went to my first ostomy group meeting and it was very interesting. Only 3 people were there, but very nice and supportive. I gotta get hold of myself. I still cry sometimes and I did it in front of people I didn't even know. Bags and flanges have been leaking and falling off every other day lately. Have been trying different companies.

What are the advantages of the one piece bags? thought they wouldn't be as bulky but can't seem to even get them on with a good seal.

Yeah the whole thing has made me crazy. GP told me to go back on Effexor and relax. I'm pretty much a failure at this bag stuff.

Of course my 2 different ET nurses can't help either so then I don't feel quite as incompetent. They did give me the D belt and there is no way that thing is comfortable on me. 4 waistband things at one time is too much. Didn't even go swim today because afraid the bag would fall off and I would have to put on a new one before work, I am 2 for 2 in problem with ostomy after my Thur. night fitness classes. I don't even do them, I just demo and yell a lot. It's not always falling completely off it's leaking right at the stoma area, so stuff gets on my skin and makes the bumps my Dr. and ET nurse want to burn of with silver-nitrate. Have to get ready for the pain on that visit.

Am going to take my new anti-depressant. Happy thought- I have all my limbs and some of my mind =)

I owe you an email and I apologize for taking so long.  I have not been recovering well from my last surgery.  I ended up in the ER for dehydration on Tuesday and have finally felt well since then.  I think maybe I've been hovering on dehydration for six weeks and didn't realize it?  Who knows but I'm glad to be feeling better, that's for sure.  I still tire easily though.

Do you recall who your ETs were?   They have a few newer ones.  Carol has been one for 25 years and has the most experience. 

You're welcome to my supplies that I can't use anymore if they'll fit you, just a few things here and there, 1 1/8 and 1 1/4, I believe but somehow I suspect you're smaller.  Since the second surgery I can only use the convex Adapt ring and Convatec stuff.  The paste and Eakins leaked on me with this crummy stoma.

Due to not being well my house is an even bigger disaster (and I wish I was exaggerating) than last time but you're still welcome to come for a visit if you'd like to.  I can come into town, too, if that works better for you.

I'll work on that email. I'm about two months behind on replies.

Interchange bag and flange from company to company...


Yes, My ET nurse told me that certain companies' bags can be used with flanges made by a different company. I think it was a Hollister floating flange could be used with a convatec bag. I tried it once, worked ok if it's the floating flange you want.

I'm having the same trouble with the ileo leaking and bag falling off. I've started wearing the belt and it has been better. My belt is from Convatec. I have a convex stoma and a lot of redundant skin to deal with and am working with a WOCN hopefully it will get better.
