I have a question...I use the convatec wafers and bags.  The bags come with a clip that holds the bag shut at the bottom.  At some point during the night my clip came off and what a mess I had and have (laundry) YIKES!!!  Apparently, I must not have snapped it as tight as it should have been.  The crazy thing is I haven't found the clip anywhere yet.  Has this ever happened to any of you???

My husband uses a different style. His bags have a small plastic "spigot" thing with a piece that plugs up the bottom.

Right after his colon surgery, his left arm was completely numb. So, he needed a bag that he could open/close with one hand. The wound nurse suggested this style. The feeling came back into his arm within a couple of days, but he still prefers the type that he started with.

I put a small rubber band around the end of the clip...like an "O" ring that you will find in a water faucet repair kit.

I use the Hollister type velcro resealable ends, and I haven't had one come open yet. I have come to definitely prefer the Hollister bags to the Convatec. That double velcro stays put no matter how full the bag gets!

Yup, I am putting my vote in for velcro ends!!! I've used both Hollister and Convatec pouches and I am a very active person WITHOUT having any problems:)

Request a few samples and see how you like them!

Both companies are very generous with their samples as well with fast deliveries. It amazed me how much free stuff they will give you!

I use the Hollister bag with the velcro end. However when I was in the nursing home had the kind that required the clip.

Kept the clip and use it as part of the Hollister velcro. roll the velcro end up then put the clip just on top of it. I like having redundancy and not thinking the velcro will wear down and fail....

I've had an ileostomy for nearly thirty years and have always used two clips. I've had maybe a handful of single failures but never a double failure. This is with the little straight Convatec clips, the curved ones might be too big for this trick.

Had that happen once while I was at a restaurant with my wife and mother in law. Not cool at all. I use hollster one piece Velcro now. I'd never go back to the clip bags.

Thanks everyone for the input. I will call hollister for samples of the velcro bags. I had them in the hospital but came home on the convatec for some reason.
