Ostomy output while sick?

I have been fighting a bad cold with a fever since Monday. I saw my PCP on Monday night and flu tests came back negative. But here I am, 4 days later STILL fighting this nasty cold. And throughout this ordeal, my output has been pure liquid - a dark, disgusting smelling, green tinted, liquid. And I'm emptying it at least twice as often as before. Is that because I am sick? Or should I be more concerned about my change in output over the last week?

Hi,

Green is usually bile and just means you've not been eating much. Or it could be coloring from a cough medicine or cold med you are taking. Call your doc if you are concerned. Feel better. Best wishes, Rosemary

Are you taking green colored Ny Quil for your cold?  If so, I will bet you that is the culprit.  For whatever reason, that stuff goes right through me, and my output will be VERY liquidy and green.

Yeah and also when you are sick that nasty stuff drains into your stomach, and that always upsets my stomach. Plus if you are dehydrated you will have a lot of bile.
I also would think the cold medicine could be to blame.

I'm sorry you feel bad gemini sounds like the cold thing is making your output green. I use M9 drops for odor control and it turns green in the pouch but goes in blue so I bet it is bile or the meds you are taking for it.

This is exactly happening to me, but I am not taking cold medicines for it.  My output looks sort of like mucus and is liquid consistency - but the odor is very different in a bad way.  It is amazing I can get through 14 surgeries, a MRSA infection, and lots of pain - but this darn cold is making me just so cranky!

LOL Bob, i heard a thing on the radio the other day, about colds, and about the worst type of cold, the MAN cold, lol. It has much worse symptoms than the regular cold.
But really, i would rather throw up all day than have a sore throat or an ear ache. I hate that!!!
